Lelo Iris: The Trouble With Petals.

Since I first laid eyes upon it, the del­i­cate petal shaped end of the Lelo Iris vibra­tor has wor­ried me. While most pleas­ing to the eye, and beau­ti­fully aes­thetic, I couldn’t help but worry about how those petals and ridges would feel inside me — you see, I’m not really a fan of tex­tured sex­toys. Nub­bies and nod­ules, ridges and rip­ples — they don’t really do any­thing for me in terms of addi­tional stim­u­la­tion. Over the years, I’ve learned what I like, and gen­er­ally, what I like is smooth. But Lelo had never let me down before, so when Tab­u­Toys offered it to me to try out, I couldn’t help but won­der if I would love the Iris.

The Lelo Iris is a spe­cial vibra­tor and has much in com­mon with the Lelo toy I lust after most, the Lelo Elise. Both con­tain two vibrat­ing cen­ters — one in the tip and one at the base for dual stim­u­la­tion at both of a woman’s plea­sure cen­ters. I’m both a G-spot and cli­toral stim­u­la­tion kind of girl, so as you can imag­ine, I couldn’t wait to see how it felt. Like other Lelo vibes, the Iris is made of beau­ti­ful sil­i­cone that is vel­vety soft to the touch and a tac­tile dream against the skin. It’s recharge­able with a three hour charge pro­vid­ing up to four hours of fun, and comes with a silky satin bag to store it inside — always a plus at my house where any­thing with­out a case quickly becomes cov­ered in cat hair.

Right off the bat, I was sur­prised by how big the Lelo Iris is. After play­ing with both the Lelo Liv and Lelo Gigi, I was expect­ing some­thing more in line with those smaller vibes and both the length and girth of the Iris really sur­prised me — this is a mas­sive vibe! The girth made it a lit­tle uncom­fort­able for me to insert — even after some cli­toral stim­u­la­tion, I still needed some addi­tional lubri­ca­tion. I don’t usu­ally need any addi­tional lubri­ca­tion — even with larger toys, I’m usu­ally wet enough by myself. But with the Lelo Iris, I really felt like I needed some­thing more — I could feel the ridges of the Iris inside me, and not nec­es­sar­ily in a good way. It felt good on the down­stroke, but oddly enough, it was with­draw­ing it that felt weird.

With a lit­tle more lube, the Iris was a lot more com­fort­able, but thrust­ing it in and out of me never felt…right. The dif­fer­ent strengths and set­tings were won­der­ful — the two vibrat­ing cen­ters felt great and the fourth set­ting was prob­a­bly my favorite one. But, I just couldn’t get over the ridges on the end. I guess that I’m a girl who loves smooth vibra­tors — ridges and my pussy sim­ply do not get along. That said, I think the Lelo Iris could be a great vibra­tor for some­one else who appre­ci­ates more tex­ture on their toys. Per­son­ally, I’d love to try some­thing with the won­der­ful girth of the Iris but with the smooth curved end of the Gigi — who knows, maybe the Elise will be more to my taste?
