Taffy Tickler — Less Tickle, Too Much Ouch!

I’ve recently redis­cov­ered my love of glass toys, and I’ve been a long­time fan of sil­i­cone, so when Adam & Eve offered me the chance to try both in the same toy, I have to admit, I was very intrigued and I couldn’t wait to try it out! The Taffy Tick­ler is a very inter­est­ing toy, fun to look at and fun to touch. Smooth clear glass swirls in and out between brightly col­ored bands of sil­i­cone tick­lers — the sil­i­cone tex­ture reminds me of a French tick­ler tongue stud that I used to have. And I love the col­ors — the pur­ple and pink totally appeal to the girly girl in me!

I should men­tion that, though most glass toys are com­pat­i­ble with sil­i­cone lube, this one isn’t — because of the sil­i­cone con­tent, it’s prob­a­bly wis­est to use this toy with a water based lube, and since water based lubes don’t last as long as sil­i­cone, make sure you’re extra gen­er­ous with the lube. One thing — I wish this toy had come with a case. I’ve been spoiled by some of my other glass dil­dos which have come with their own nicely padded cases. It pains me to see this pretty glass dildo just tossed in a drawer, and the sil­i­cone seems to attract dust and cat hair like you wouldn’t believe, so this is a toy you’ll end up clean­ing both before and after every use.

For me, the unex­pected tex­ture of this dildo is def­i­nitely it’s biggest turn-on. The first time I pulled it out, I blind­folded D and ran the cool glass and warm nub­bies over his chest and body. He didn’t know what was hap­pen­ing to him! On the one hand, he was sure it was a glass dildo, but the sil­i­cone tick­lers threw off his expec­ta­tions, and he wasn’t sure what was going on! I love that — the unex­pected con­trast! How­ever, when inserted…the con­trast of tex­tures wasn’t nearly as nice. While I loved the smooth cool glass, I found the sil­i­cone nub­bies to be too abra­sive on my ten­der and sen­si­tive flesh. I poured on the lube, hop­ing that would help, but I still couldn’t get over the feel of the nub­bies. The points were just too…pointy, too rough — I didn’t enjoy them at all. Instead of being plea­sur­able, they were almost painful — not some­thing I want in a sex toy! I felt like they were scrap­ing my skin as the dildo moved in and out. D, on the other hand, did like han­dling the dildo — he said the nub­bies made the dildo eas­ier to hold onto, though, since I didn’t like using it, it was sort of a moot point.

Unfor­tu­nately, for a toy com­bin­ing two tex­tures with so much poten­tial, the Taffy Tick­ler failed to incor­po­rate the best of both worlds. While pleas­ing visu­ally, it just didn’t feel good — it felt uncom­fort­able and down­right painful. I don’t think I would rec­om­mend the Taffy Tick­ler, but I also have to admit the pos­si­bil­ity that it could “just be me” and oth­ers might find the com­bi­na­tion of tex­tures more lik­able. Per­son­ally, I’ll stick with all glass dil­dos like the Adam & Eve Curved Beaded Glass dildo. Thank you to Adam & Eve!
