These days, every­one seems to be talk­ing about the Berman Cen­ter. With an endorse­ment from Oprah for their Aphrodite mas­sager, and the fact that I’ve tried (and I love) their Anti-bacterial Spray Cleaner, I decided to give one of their toys a try. I chose the Juliet, a cli­toral encaser vibe — it just sounded really inter­est­ing, and I love inter­est­ing toys that aren’t like every­thing else on the mar­ket. With a hard plas­tic cir­cle on the end that is meant to encir­cle the cli­toris, the Juliet is sup­posed to be the per­fect cli­toral toy “designed to encir­cle and encase the cli­toris for pre­cise plea­sure that’s evenly dis­trib­uted so the sen­sa­tion isn’t too intense”.

I love cli­to­r­ial stim­u­la­tion, but I often run into a prob­lem of over stim­u­la­tion with stronger vibra­tors like the Hitachi. The direct stim­u­la­tion is great until the moment I start to orgasm, then my clit is painfully sen­si­tive and direct stim­u­la­tion is more pain than plea­sure, and not in a good way. When I first received the Juliet from PinkCherry.com, I was pleased to find that it was com­pletely water­proof — I’m always look­ing for toys to play with in the shower. While I knew that the toy would be hard “body-friendly” plas­tic (which meant I could actu­ally use it with sil­i­cone lube), I was kind of sur­prised by just how hard the plas­tic actu­ally was. I had hoped that it would be a lit­tle softer, more yield­ing, but thought that maybe the harder plas­tic would help to trans­mit the vibra­tions. And it would be nice and easy to clean with antibac­te­r­ial soap and water. I swiped two AAA bat­ter­ies from my toy drawer, and I was ready to go.

I was des­per­ate to orgasm. With D out of com­mis­sion for the past two weeks, and my time of the month rapidly approach­ing, I wanted some­thing quick, intense and sat­is­fy­ing. I applied a lib­eral amount of lube, turned the Juliet to its low­est set­ting and ran the end over my nether lips. It was a nice mild vibra­tion, but I wanted more, so I quickly cycled up to one of the higher set­tings, parted my lips and located my throb­bing clit. And the vibra­tions just weren’t quite strong enough to get me there. I added my fin­gers to the equa­tion, rub­bing my clit and slit while keep­ing the Juliet on my clit. By con­cen­trat­ing on my breath­ing, and focus­ing on the sen­sa­tion, I was able to come, but it wasn’t nearly as strong as I was hop­ing for. After­wards, though, it felt fan­tas­tic — it was just the per­fect amount of stim­u­la­tion on my over­stim­u­lated clit, and I could just bask in the plea­sure, rid­ing out the waves much, much longer than I’ve ever been able to before.

I’m not writ­ing off my Juliet, not by a long shot. I have a feel­ing that this toy has a lot of poten­tial yet to be unlocked. I’m going to try it out in com­bi­na­tion with other toys — I think that, paired with a nice g-spot vibe, it could be a truly amaz­ing toy, and really teach me to har­ness the power of my own orgasm. It’s also a toy that I think I’ll be rec­om­mend­ing to friends and fam­ily, espe­cially those that I know have a hard time reach­ing orgasm, or haven’t ever reached orgasm, and need some help learn­ing about their body and what makes them feel good.
