The Velvet Touch Harness

A good har­ness can make or break a sex­ual expe­ri­ence. I speak from expe­ri­ence when I say that a ill-fitting or uncom­fort­able har­ness can ruin a good time, and make you write off an expe­ri­ence that could oth­er­wise add a new and excit­ing ele­ment to your sex­ual repetoire. So when the won­der­ful folks over at Babe­land offered to send me, not one but two dif­fer­ent har­nesses to try out — I couldn’t wait!

I tried the Vel­vet Har­ness first. An excel­lent har­ness for begin­ners, it fea­tures gor­geous pur­ple vel­vet, easy to adjust nylon straps, and a lit­tle pocket for a bul­let vibe (included). It also comes with three dif­fer­ent sizes of O-rings, which came in handy because I have a vari­ety of dif­fer­ent dil­dos in my arse­nal, rang­ing from the Silk to the Buzz!

The straps (which fit hips up to 60″) were easy to adjust, but seemed a bit flimsy. And I made the mis­take of try­ing the har­ness on first and then try­ing to undo the snaps that held the O-ing in place. Try­ing to re-figure out which straps went where and how was like work­ing some kind of con­vo­luted Chi­nese puz­zle, but I finally fig­ured it out and man­aged to get it back on with the dildo in place. Take it from me, put the dildo in place first and make sure the straps don’t slip out! I didn’t think I’d ever get it out back together!

Once on, the har­ness was mar­velously com­fort­able, and held every­thing snugly in place. I was able to place the base of the dildo low so that the end of the base rode against my pubic mound. The vibrat­ing bul­let was a nice addi­tional touch of stim­u­la­tion, but I found that I really pre­ferred to use the har­ness with­out it. I found that the bul­let made a dis­tract­ing lump in the front of the har­ness, and that I had more and bet­ter con­trol with­out the dildo flat against my body.

Aes­thet­i­cally, I didn’t really care for the looks of the har­ness. The pur­ple vel­vet pad was a nice touch, but the nylon straps really didn’t add any­thing for spe­cial, and I didn’t feel espe­cially sexy while wear­ing it. Over­all, I would def­i­nitely rec­om­mend the Vel­vet Har­ness, espe­cially for begin­ners or as a first har­ness. The easy to adjust straps and vari­ety of O-rings makes it a good choice for peo­ple want­ing to try some­thing new out. In fact, Babe­land sells the Vel­vet Har­ness of part of their Bend Over Begin­ner Kit paired with a set of slim dil­dos. How­ever, if you’re think­ing of mak­ing strap-on play a reg­u­lar addi­tion to your bed­room play, you might want to try the other har­ness I tried out — the best­selling Jaguar Har­ness, which I’ll be review­ing next!
